Judgment should lead the tools

AI can make weak thinking faster. That is useful to remember whenever a new model or workflow looks impressive.

The real advantage starts before the prompt. You need to understand the decision, define what a useful answer looks like, and know where human judgment still carries the risk.

My current rule

I use AI to expand options, challenge assumptions, structure messy information, and speed up execution. I do not use it to avoid deciding what matters.

For founders and small businesses, this distinction is practical. The best automation is not the one with the most moving parts. It is the one that removes a repeated bottleneck without making the business harder to understand.

A better workflow

  1. Name the outcome in plain language.
  2. Collect the context a capable teammate would need.
  3. Ask AI for options and tradeoffs.
  4. Apply judgment and choose.
  5. Turn the useful result into a repeatable system.

Tools change quickly. Clear thinking compounds.
